PARENT ORIENTATION ON SEPT 09, 2017 AT 11.00 AM

Volunteering

NWIS is a community organization which requires active participation of the parents to help continue educating students to the best of our abilities. It is mandatory for each parent to volunteer for a minimum of eight school days.Failing to do so without a genuine reason, may result in the loss of your child’s enrollment. More information on this can be found on the NWIS website.

The objective of having the parents volunteer and assist in the running of the school is to have complete involvement of parents in the educational activity and also will foster in the child a belief to emulate the Islamic habits that the parents have.

Parents who are scheduled to volunteer are required to be at the Musallah at least 45 minutes before the school starts to facilitate the arrangement of the classrooms.

  1. Turn-on the lights using the switches located at the entrance and outside the washroom wall towards the kitchen area. All the switches are clearly labelled with the name of the devise they control.
  2. Please do not touch the Thermostat for changing the temperature of the facilities.
  3. Ensure that the facilities are clean and tidy i.e. no food, papers, pamphlets are lying on the floor etc.
  4. Set-up the tables and chairs for the classes as per the Seating Plan Sketch. The students and teachers will be able to help you out. Ensure that the tables are in front of the white boards.
  5. Ensure that sufficient paper cups are available at the water cooler. Paper cups are stocked in the Kitchen.
  6. Please ensure that teachers, students and parents place their shoes in the racks.
  7. Please advise late comers to be on time. Any student later than 10 minutes is not allowed to enter the classroom until a late slip is taken from the Principal’s office.
  8. Please ensure that one of the parents on duty is outside the facility to control the traffic during pick and drop timing to avoid any traffic block or inconvenience to customers of other shops.
  9. A checklist is also attached to the volunteer binder for your reference. Please ensure to file the checklist in the binder before leaving.

Announcements & Breaks

  1. Announce the start of class using the Public Address (PA) system
  2. If any teacher is absent, please contact School administrator to arrange for a substitute teacher. Please fill-in for the teacher till the substitute teacher arrives. If you feel that you cannot handle the class, talk to the senior level teacher and he/she will be able to help.
  3. The class schedule will be as per the following details:

1Sep –6 Nov, 2016and 12 March, 2017– End of School year (Daylight               Saving Time): 11 AM – 2 PM

 Period 1 11:00 am to 11:45 am

  • Break 5 min stretch break
  • Period 2 11:50 am to 12:35 pm
  • Break 15 minutes snack break (Students bring snacks from home)
  • Period 3 12:50 pm to 1:35 pm
  • Period 4 1:35 pm to 1:50 pm
  • Closing 10 min to clean for Zuhr prayers at 2.00 pm

6 Nov, 2016– 12 March, 2016 (Standard Time); 10 AM - 1 PM

 Period 1 10:00 am to 10:45 am

  • Break 5 min stretch break
  • Period 2 10:50 am to 11:35 am
  • Break 15 minutes snack break (Students bring snacks from home)
  • Period 3 11:50 am to 12:35 pm
  • Period 4 12:35 pm to 12:50 pm
  • Closing 10 min to clean up for Zuhr prayers at 1.00 pm
  1. Please announce the start and finish of periods using the PA system.
  2. Second break is for snacks. Students are advised to bring snacks from home as school will not be providing any snacks.
  3. Maintain strict discipline during the break and watch kids for fights, destruction of property and throwing trash. Playing with football etc. is NOT allowed.
  4. Ensure that no student leaves the premises at any time during or after the break.
