School Policies
"The best of you are those who are best in conduct." – Sahih al-Bukhari
At NorthWest Islamic School, our policies are designed to create a safe, respectful, and nurturing
environment where every student can learn and thrive. These policies reflect our shared Islamic values
and our commitment to the well-being of our entire community. We ask all families to read, understand,
and support these guidelines.
Attendance Policy
● Regular Saturday attendance is expected and essential for student progress. Consistent attendance is critical in a weekend school format.
● If your child will be absent, parents/guardians must notify the school office before 9:00 AM on the Saturday of absence via email or WhatsApp or phone.
● Excessive unexcused absences (more than 3 consecutive Saturdays) may result in a meeting with the administration to discuss continued enrollment.
● Students arriving after 10:15 AM must check in at the office before joining their class.
● Early pickups should be arranged in advance and are recorded for student safety.
Code of Conduct for Students
All students are expected to:
● Treat teachers, staff, volunteers, and fellow students with respect and kindness at all times.
● Use appropriate, Islamic language – no profanity, name-calling, or unkind words.
● Care for school property, learning materials, and shared spaces.
● Follow the instructions of teachers and staff promptly and politely.
● Come to school prepared, with completed homework and necessary materials.
● Mobile phones and electronic devices must be turned off and stored during school hours unless approved by a teacher for educational purposes.
Dress Code Guidelines
● Students are expected to dress in modest, clean, and neat attire appropriate for an Islamic
learning environment.
● Girls: Hijab is encouraged. Clothing should be loose-fitting and cover the body appropriately.
● Boys: Clothing should be modest and respectful.
● Clothing with inappropriate images, slogans, or messaging is not permitted.
● Students may be asked to change or cover up if their attire is deemed inappropriate.
